About

My name is Sophia Del Vecchio, and I was born and raised in Paris. Growing up, embroidery was always a big part of my life. My mother, Dominique, had already worked for Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Yves Saint Laurent for many years before introducing this beautiful art form to me and my twin sister Ornella. Ever since I was a child, I have always admired watching my mother and her passion for the craft, especially the attention to detail, patience, dedication, and love she would put into every single stitch. To me, this is an essential part of French culture. Whether it comes to gastronomy, art, fashion, film, and (without question!!!) wine and cheese, there’s always this sense of passing on tradition, like a recipe handed down generation by generation. In France, this concept is called “savoir faire” and it involves learning from someone with many years of experience in handmade crafts in order to refine and perfect one’s technique.

Before moving to Los Angeles, I was working in embroidery Ateliers.
After my mum trained me intensively for a year, I had the chance to work in the best embroidery Ateliers in Paris where I was lucky to work on projects for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Bulgari, Céline and Jean Paul Gaultier. Working there wasn't just a job; it was a masterclass in creativity, dedication, and craftsmanship. Each stitch was not just a thread but a lesson in patience, precision, and passion. Every bead, sequin, and motif taught me the importance of attention to detail. Every project was an opportunity to expand my skills and discover new techniques.
Working in embroidery ateliers has been nothing short of a mesmerizing journey, where each needle stroke tells a tale of tradition, innovation, and boundless imagination.

While embroidery is well-known in France, one of my goals in moving to the United States is to expose people to the subtle beauty of this metier and show how each thread and stitch and sequin is part of a greater history that has existed in France for hundreds of years! It’s brought a lot of joy to my life, and I hope it will do the same for yours :)
